The first job was a total repaint of the framework and mechanisms. The pictures below show the frame before (left) and after (right) painting. You can see that they have done a marvellous job. In fact, they spent over a day wire-brushing away almost a century of rust and accumulated dirt so get that lovely coating.
The new clappers were the first to be reattached with huge new nuts and bolts. Once this relatively easy job had been accomplished, the more difficulty one started, attaching the Clavier operating rods to the far side of the framework.
The final part of the mechanical rebuild was the fitting and wiring in of the newly French polished Clavier. This simple-looking job took over a day of “knitting”
The parallel project was the fitting of the electrified system. Electrical wiring had already been installed so the work entailed fitting an electrically controlled clapper to each bell and the control unit downstairs.
These clappers can be rung automatically (by the control unit) by the small buttons on the control unit or by the wireless keyboard.
